Each week I have been logging my exercise. Mostly this is an activity for myself; it has, on occasion, prompted me to get up and move (“for the blog”).
It is also meant for encouragement, in case a busy reader wants to know how other people get their recommended exercise; I don’t think it’s easy to get enough exercise these days, and I think it does people a disservice to imply that it is. Our lives are busy, and yet, you have to take care of your health.
Let’s be real: this week was a disaster. Summer interns, another cold, difficult patients. I felt overwhelmed and couldn’t find time to exercise. Or is the story that I didn’t find time to exercise, and then felt exhausted and overwhelmed?
- Saturday: No exercise.
- Sunday: No exercise. I did take a nap in the afternoon.
- Monday: No exercise.
- Tuesday: We had road work and the car had to be parked several streets over. I walked 5 minutes to get to the car in the morning.
- Wednesday: Still having road work, walked 10 minutes to get to the car.
- Thursday: Nothing.
- Friday: Nada.
Total: 15 minutes walking. Just to get to a car. Verdict: as per above, a disaster. Luckily a new week starts every Saturday.
