I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Friday Firsts
This week had a number of firsts:
- Joined a phone call about some testing my husband will need. Was addressed as Mrs. Husband’s-Last-Name for the first time in earnest. Possibly ever.
- Tried my first telehealth visit from home.
- Spent a whole day working from home, including seeing patients that day.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.
How did I do?
- Saturday: This was a stay at home day. The weather was bad and I spent a lot of time dealing with paper work. In the evening I looked for exercise programs on cable, but they all required a subscription. No exercise.
- Sunday: I made up for Saturday. A yoga class via Zoom (80 minutes) which wore me out for a while. But later in the day, I was able to take a short walk with my husband before dinner, 24 minutes.
- Monday: Walked home from work, 26 minutes.
- Tuesday: A stressful day and the weather wasn’t great. No exercise today.
- Wednesday: A non-clinical day, yet somehow I spent loads of time at the computer. I took an evening walk for 56 minutes.
- Thursday: Today I worked from home but did very little. Almost no one wanted to do telehealth visits today. I took a long walk to a bakery, which to my surprise was open. I bought nothing, as I had strategically not brought any money. Walked for 68 minutes.
- Friday: I spent a full work day at my computer at home, between meetings and telehealth visits. I wasn’t free to walk until after the end of the work day, 30 minutes.
Total: 204 minutes walking and 80 minutes yoga, which I will count as weight training. Another good week as far as exercise went.
