I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for just about 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts, there were a few:
- For our anniversary, we ate dinner off our wedding china for the first time.
- I attended a religious service via Zoom. That was different.
- I realized it would be better to attend a future Zoom service with a prayer book, so I went to my house of worship and “checked out” a copy for myself. (Free book!)
- Had a friend over in the back yard for socially distanced socializing. I did not like trying to consume tea and cookies while masked. I can’t wait for the pandemic to pass–but I think I will have to. 🙁
- Foreign language spam. Deleted, not necessary to repeat.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.
How did I do?
- Saturday: Took a long walk to the bakery and most of the way back (got a pick up). 51 minutes. On the way there, I struck up a conversation with one of the front-yard food gardeners. She offered to drop off some cabbage plant starts next week. I am so excited.
- Sunday: I had left over work from Friday. I procrastinated all day before finishing it up, and then it was late. I put off dinner to take a short walk, it felt so good to loosen up some stiff hips. 24 minutes.
- Monday: The weather looked threatening all day. I kept reminding myself this was a good opportunity to try an exercise video on YouTube, and yet, this never happened.
- Tuesday: Zoom yoga wasn’t super successful as I was on-call. I was able to get in about 60 minutes around pages.
- Wednesday: Between the yoga and a middle of the night call, I felt quite unwell today. By evening I felt well enough to try a 37 minute stretching video, which was more strenuous than I had anticipated.
- Thursday: Session with my trainer after work, 30 minutes.
- Friday: Working from home via telemedicine meant I could go for a walk at lunch time. 20 minutes. I wore myself out in the afternoon, and declined to go on the second walk I had been contemplating at noon.
Total: 95 minutes walking, 37 minutes stretching, 30 weight training and 60 minutes yoga. A total of 222 minutes for the week. I would certainly call this a win.
