I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- This week I saw, for the first time, a woman sworn in as Vice-President. Something I first saw attempted, and then shot down, in 1984 with Geraldine Ferraro. Amazing.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise during a regular week. If I am working in the hospital, I will relax my goal to 90 minutes for the week. At least 60 minutes of my exercise in a normal week should help with strength training; right now, I count yoga as part of this category.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I took a before breakfast walk with Mr. PiN in winter weather. 24 minutes.
- Sunday: On-call today. Nothing rigorous, but I had to be near my phone and computer. I gave up on the idea of exercise for today, figuring I would be interrupted part-way through whatever I chose to do.
- Monday: An afternoon walk, it was good to get some fresh (possibly too-fresh) air. 36 minutes. I noticed one of my books had reappeared in the Little Free Library.
- Tuesday: A yoga class over Zoom after work, 80 minutes.
- Wednesday: A brisk morning walk before the inauguration. 40 minutes.
- Thursday: Trainer session after work. It was cut a bit short due to technical difficulties. 28 minutes.
- Friday: Today was a long day spent in front of the computer. I was thrilled to walk outside in fresh air, even if the weather wasn’t perfect. 42 minutes.
Total: 142 minutes walking, 28 minutes weight training and 80 minutes of yoga this week, for a total of 250 minutes. I feel like this was a good week, as far as exercise goes.
