I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- A post of mine was featured on All Star Money. So exciting!
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do on my first hospital week in July?
- Saturday: No exercise after work today.
- Sunday: Today I did take a walk after work, 51 minutes.
- Monday: A very long day at work indeed. No exercise today.
- Tuesday: No exercise today.
- Wednesday: A long day at work made longer by taking call. No exercise.
- Thursday: I came home early from the hospital and worked on the front porch. It wasn’t exercise, but just sitting outside for an hour (and a half) perked up my mood considerably.
- Friday: Nothing here either.
Total: This week I managed just one walk, for 51 minutes. Clearly far from my goal. In my defense, it is July, with July interns. We will see if next week works out better, but I am skeptical. The real challenge will be to get back into my routine once I am back in the office.
