I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s first:
- I finally watched the first episode of Ted Lasso with Mr. PiN. That must be one of the most expensive shows I have watched, as I have been paying for Apple TV since last summer (telling myself, I’ll cancel as soon as I see Ted Lasso and decide if it’s worth the subscription). It was pretty good; I think we will keep Apple TV and try to watch more episodes for a while. Apparently there are 21 more.
Fitness Log
For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: Walked in the afternoon, and felt quite slow. Nevertheless, I walked for 32 minutes (on a walk that usually takes me 30, so either there wasn’t much of a difference, or I was walking about 10% slower).
- Sunday: Walked with my friend to a local park. I turned off my timer when we sat to talk, so I can only estimate our walking time at 44 minutes.
- Monday: Interrupted my note writing to work out with my trainer. 30 minutes of exercise.
- Tuesday: I started to feel the after effects of my training at work. No working out once I got home.
- Wednesday: This is supposed to be my day for exercise, but lots of work and bad weather meant I didn’t do anything, not even PT.
- Thursday: No exercise today either.
- Friday: My schedule and the weather cooperated, and I took a nice walk for 40 minutes after my last patient. I was going to skip PT (making it a whole week), but I noted I was just shy of my weekly goal. So I did it after dinner.
Total: 116 minutes walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and only one round of my PT exercises, for a total of 150 minutes. I just barely squeaked in on the time goal, but I did it. (Did not hit my PT goal, but felt good most of the week.)
I *still* haven’t used the strength bands… I think I commented here about my goal to use those, oh, at least a month ago… but now that case counts are down I’m going back to the gym once a week (masked, low traffic times). I mean, weights machines are just better. But I should at least try those strength bands a couple more times… and glad you met your time goal!!
Weight machines are more fun, I think, but those bands can be tough. And more portable, if travel happens again soon. Thanks for stopping by and checking in!
