I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- Played tennis outdoors for the first time this year.
- Worked in the garden for the first time this year too.
Fitness Log
For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: Finally, good weather coincided with a day off. I took a walk in the neighborhood (34 minutes) and then later Mr. PiN and I headed off to the tennis courts. I ran around for 17 minutes of exercise, and then sat and watched people playing volleyball and flying kites while Mr. PiN practiced his serve. A lovely afternoon.
- Sunday: I was out in the garden today, pruning. After an hour and 20 minutes, I was a bit worn out for any other activity. I am not sure if I will count this as “exercise,” but it certainly tired me out.
- Monday: Walked partway home (20 minutes) and met my trainer online for a 30 minute work out.
- Tuesday: No real exercise today.
- Wednesday: Ran an errand and walked home. 23 minutes.
- Thursday: Lots of notes to write after coming home from work, no exercise today.
- Friday: After a sedentary day of work, I went for a walk. I realized that, if not counting my gardening, I was a 30 minute walk away from hitting my exercise target for the first time in (I think) months. I walked for 31 minutes.
Total: 108 minutes walking, 17 minutes of tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 155 minutes. Not counting working in the garden. Finally hitting my target (no PT though).
