I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 4 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- As I was out and about the town, I noticed the first trees turning colors for the fall. Both exciting, and sad, as a harbinger of the change of seasons.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I was tired today, no exercise.
- Sunday: A late afternoon walk with Mr. PiN, 20 minutes.
- Monday: I worked out (remotely) with my trainer for the first time in a month. 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk part way home to my pick up point, 20 minutes.
- Wednesday: I had an appointment today, and walked partway home (10 minutes), rather than the whole way, because my asthma was acting up. I went for my tennis lesson anyway, though we spent more time than usual gabbing at the net while I took a break. I will say 60 minutes for the whole day (mostly tennis, with the walk filling in the break time).
- Thursday: A walk part way home to my pick up point, 20 minutes. I’ve hit my target for the week–anything I do tomorrow will be gravy.
- Friday: After my last patient, I took a walk, 24 minutes. I would have happily gone longer, but I had lots of charting to finish.
Total: 94 minutes walking, 30 minutes strength training, 50 minutes playing tennis; for a grand total of 174 minutes. I met my goal and a little more!
Well done on exceeding your fitness goals this week! I love the fall colours but I don’t love the thought of winter. This summer seemed to fly by way too quickly.
I love summer, but I am somewhat relieved to have some of the very hot weather pass (also, I need A/C for the filtration, but would be happy to have a lower electricity bill for the fall). I like winter in small doses–bright sunny days with sun reflecting off snow, preferably viewed from a comfy chair indoors, on a day off. The shorter daylight hours, slushy snow, and grey skies are not what I hope for.
Yes, I admit it has been too hot for me the last couple of nights, but I refuse to put the A/C on in October. Cooler weather is on the way this weekend though.
