I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
I attended a local week day religious service in person for the first time… ever. I even went back for a second time.
Friday Fabulousness
I had a colleague over to the house to discuss a meeting I attended and how to incorporate that info in our practice. Bonus point: it was a nice enough day (mostly) to meet on the front porch.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I got a ride to the bakery, and walked home, dropping off a few books in Little Free Libraries along the way. 34 minutes.
- Sunday: A 20 minute walk in the afternoon was lovely.
- Monday: A 20 minute walk to my pick up point, and a 30 minute strength training session with my trainer in the evening.
- Tuesday: A 20 minute walk to my pick up point.
- Wednesday: No tennis lesson today; I had to cancel to attend my doctor’s appointment, where I was lectured on getting enough exercise. Sigh. After that, I was catching up on work and did nothing much else. I consoled myself by realizing I only need 24 minutes of exercise this week to make my goal.
- Thursday: I was planning to get picked up at the usual spot, but we had some telephone issues. I ended up walking further than usual, 26 minutes (conveniently enough, I made my target for the week).
- Friday: A walk after work, 20 minutes.
Total: 140 minutes of walking, no tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 170 minutes of exercise.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): For my 4 non-hospital weeks, I met my goal at least 3 of 4 weeks (the fourth week, I was traveling, and wasn’t able to keep track of my walking well. I might have hit my goal, I just can’t guarantee it).
- PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Nothing, nada I keep this on here as a reminder and aspirational goal. Though I did start doing some stretches after my return home from the meeting. It hasn’t yet become a consistent habit.
- Clutter goals: I did bring in a number of unread magazines to the office, now that we keep them in the waiting area again.
- Local Adventures. I suppose going to judge posters was a little adventure. I did pass by a local attraction I hadn’t actually visited before, though I didn’t stop in.
- MSKAP (2 study sessions per month with my friend, or read through one topic on my own): No MKSAP, though I got plenty of education at my meeting.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month). My colleague came over the discuss work, but we were on the porch and I served cookies, so that’s more social. Mr. PiN and I went to dinner at my college friends’ new house. And I enjoyed meeting my husband’s family after my out-of-state meeting.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
