I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I went to Florida’s Space Coast. It was pretty low key (also, cold and rainy).
- I took a solo Uber trip. I was a little anxious, to be sure, and texted my info to Mr. PiN, for just in case [I went missing]. It was all good, and I got where I was supposed to go without mishap.
Fabulousness
- When planning our trips, I had signed Mr. PiN up for the Hertz Gold Membership (it’s free, and allows me to drive as well [also for free] as I am his spouse). He loved being able to walk amongst 2 rows of cars and pick whichever he liked.
- I attended the White Coat Investor Physician Wellness and Financial Literacy Conference (WCICON24). It was very exciting to see so many people I have heard on podcasts or read posts by, in person. I was, unfortunately, too shy to walk up and introduce myself to any of the bloggers I have admired from afar.
- I was able to watch a fireworks show from my hotel room.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do? Mostly, I have no idea, as I did not time myself at all this week.
- Saturday: A travel day. I walked around the airport a very little, but didn’t get much exercise.
- Sunday: We took 2 short walks on the beach in cool and rainy weather.
- Monday: We stopped at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and I walked quite a way from our parking spot to the visitor entrance. Mr. PiN and I were relieved to see that we were not the only people of a certain age to recoil at the entrance fees ($75 per person!!) We walked around the entrance, and went back to the car. After checking in at the conference, we walked to an off-site restaurant for dinner.
- Tuesday: The conference meeting room was a bit of a hike from my hotel room, and I went back and forth several times. Later in the afternoon, I followed a nature walk (about 1 mile).
- Wednesday: Conference walking, and a yoga class.
- Thursday: More walking for the conference, and an afternoon walk.
- Friday: A walk in the morning, then walking in the airport.
Total: Who knows? I suspect I did get more than 150 minutes of exercise in. Mostly, I was thrilled to be outside, and to manage longer walks that I have taken in several weeks.
CME Goals
- MKSAP: None.
- CME Videos: None.
- [Not a CME goal] Meeting CME: attended.
I’m glad to know I’m not the only person nervous about Uber!
Nope, definitely not the only one.
