I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I ate a restaurant I had never been to, when my sister-in-law came.
- We also ate at a new-to-me restaurant, though it was in a location I had eaten many times before (different owners and menu, though). Also with my sister-in-law.
Fabulousness
My sister-in-law came to visit, capping several weeks of tidying and cleaning. It was nice to stop preparing and actually have the company.

Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: My usual neighborhood walk was extended, as one of my shortcuts is closed after a water main break. I am guessing I walked 25 minutes.
- Sunday: Today I timed my walk, as I picked a slightly different route: 35 minutes. I was happy that my foot felt up to it.
- Monday: No walking today, the weather was bad. I had a good work out with my trainer though, 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: No exercise today, it was quite hot.
- Wednesday: My tennis lesson had plenty of breaks because of the heat. I have no idea how long my teacher had me chat at the net with my bottle of water, but I will say I exercised for 45 minutes..
- Thursday: Another bad-weather day with long work hours. No exercise.
- Friday: The heat wave is not ending. I just could not bring myself to walk after work (nor to stare at a screen for a minute longer to do an exercise routine, which was mostly me whining).
Total: 60 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 45 minutes of tennis (it was very hot). Had there not been a heat-wave, I would have met my exercise goal. I guess my dedication melted a little, but I was glad not to pass out or end up in the ER, dehydrated.
CME Goals
I have to watch 9 more videos (about 7.5 hours) to meet my credit requirement. I watched none this week, as we had a guest. Next week. Really.
