Fitness Log #296, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts and Fabulousness

I was busy working with new interns in July, and did not take any notes here.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do during this hospital week (with the new interns)?

Four children from the 1830s, 3 boys in jackets and pants, one younger child held by the eldest, wearing a dress and red bead necklace.
Not my actual resident team.
  • Saturday:  I got home a little early, but was super tired. And there were weather alerts. I did no exercise today.
  • Sunday:  After a busy day, I walked to my usual pick up spot. 20 minutes walking.
  • Monday: Another walk to my pick up spot, 20 minutes.
  • Tuesday: The summer is getting hot, and hospital work goes long, no exercise today.
  • Wednesday: Same issues as yesterday, no exercise.
  • Thursday: Hot weather, no walking.
  • Friday: A long work day with tough weather, no exercise.

Total: 40 minutes walking. I definitely missed my 90 minute goal.

I clearly need to think about strategies to get exercise when it’s super hot outside.

What do you do to stay fit during heat waves?
