I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I was asked to interview someone who already had been offered the job. What the heck?
Fabulousness
I was thrilled to stay home and watch the Wimbledon finals, especially the Ladies’ Final.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do while sick and dealing with a heat wave?
- Saturday: No exercise.
- Sunday: Nope, none.
- Monday: Canceled my training session (also had to catch up on work).
- Tuesday: Nothing.
- Wednesday: My tennis teacher lured me out to the courts, and we did a lighter lesson, with less running around on my part. I managed with some coughing and a break or two. I will call it 50 minutes of exercise.
- Thursday: I considered an evening walk, but it was a bit warm still, and I had lots of work.
- Friday: My chest was a bit congested for a morning walk, but by afternoon, I was finally feeling well enough that I wanted to go out. I walked my 20 minute route and felt pretty good about it.
Total: Clearly I did not meet my usual exercise goals. (For the record, it was a total of 70 minutes, rather than 150.) But I feel happy that this week I feel up to exercising and started back at it. I am hoping that I will be able to do more next week, whether or not I hit the usual goals.
CME Goals
I’m done with my videos, but now have a book of board review questions to go through. The exam is in October, so I am giving this a rest for now as I catch up on clinic work.
