I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
Once again, I didn’t note any this week.
Unless you count publishing my 300th Fitness Log. I never would have guessed that I would do this for so long.
Fabulousness
We enjoyed a weekend of leisure:
Mr. PiN was tired in the late afternoon, and quite open to ordering out. So I ordered dinner. I can see that what used to be a very rare treat, is now turning into a (roughly) once a month treat. Still so worth it.
Sunday morning, I persuaded him to take me to the public tennis courts for a little practice. The day hadn’t yet heated up, there were courts available, and I had a great time actually hitting the ball more often than not. We decided to end after a super-fun rally. (Bonus points: my teacher was giving a lesson, and could see that I was actually practicing!)
Then, I spent the afternoon and evening with my college roommate, who was in town for something else.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: None today, I was super tired.
- Sunday: Tennis in the morning, I will call it 33 minutes.
- Monday: My weekly strength training session, 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick-up point, 20 minutes.
- Wednesday: A tennis lesson with just the usual breaks. I’ll call it 60 minutes.
- Thursday: No real exercise today.
- Friday: After a long day of work, and knowing I hadn’t yet met my weekly goal, I went for a hot and steamy walk after seeing my last patient. 20 minutes.
Total: 40 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, 93 minutes of tennis, for a total of 163 minutes of exercise. I hit my goal again! Most of it was really fun, too.
CME Goals
Still on hiatus, but I will need to get started very soon!
