I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
I visited my mom for the weekend, and we took a drive to a town I’d never been to.
Fabulousness
I had a nice weekend visit with my mom. Not to sound too spoiled, but the visit was much nicer with just the two of us, rather than having to share her attention with my siblings and their families.
On my administrative day, there was construction on my street. Instead of listening to it all day, I went to a local museum and studied on a bench on the (shaded) grounds.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: Mom and I did a lot of driving, but no real exercise to speak of.
- Sunday: My trip home took a lot longer than expected. No exercise here either.
- Monday: A 30 minute session with my trainer.
- Tuesday: A walk in the neighborhood after work, 31 minutes.
- Wednesday: A great tennis lesson, 60 minutes. I visited with my nearly-retired friend later in the day, and we went for a walk around the neighborhood. We walked 1 mile, I will call it 20 minutes.
- Thursday: A friend had to drop by the house to pick something up, so I met her at work and she gave me a ride home. 20 minutes walking to a different pick up point.
- Friday: A walk after work, 20 minutes.
Total: 91 minutes walking, 30 minutes strength training, 60 minutes tennis, for a total of 181 minutes. I beat my time goal and felt really good exercising. I’m very happy with this week.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): I hit my goal 4 out of 4 weeks, after a bad run the month before.
- PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Hahaha.
- Clutter goals: I “decluttered” one afternoon by reading a few magazines, but otherwise did very little here.
- Local Adventures. I will count my visit this week to the museum grounds I could also count my work get-together, in a venue I had never been to before.
- CME. 1 study session with an exam review book.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month). In review, I did a ton this month: hanging out and taking walks with my about-to-retire friend on 3 separate days, seeing my college roommate when she came to town, going home to see my mom (also visiting with my aunt). At one event a month, that’s enough for half the year! Maybe I should up my goal here, because I really feel better having done so much visiting.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
Well done on meeting your exercise goals every week this month. I can’t say the same. LOL That’s great that you’re getting lots of socializing in. It’s very important to our wellbeing.
Well, I have good months and bad months. I am so impressed by your goals and what you get done.
Thank you!
