Fitness Log #307, Friday Firsts, Fabulousness, And Monthly Goals

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Fabulousness

On my return home early in the week, Mr. PiN and I saw a hawk land on one of our trees, before taking off after (we presume) a potential meal around the corner.

I had a wonderful administrative day, wherein I actually cleared many tasks from my in-box and was able to enjoy some of the late summer day.

Friday Firsts

Under the first but not-fabulous column, we received a phone call in the early hours letting us know that Mr. PiN’s father had died.

What followed were a series of firsts, which I am not in a hurry to repeat: arranging a funeral, writing an obituary, etc.

A mannequin wearing a black mourning outfit from the late 1850s.
Mr. PiN also had to find appropriate clothing.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  Nothing today.
  • Sunday:  Nor today.
  • Monday: A 20 minute walk, and then a workout with my trainer (30 minutes).
  • Tuesday: I timed my new walk to my pickup point, taking advantage of shortcut through the hospital, 17 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A great tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
  • Thursday: Some surprises today meant that I didn’t formally exercise.
  • Friday: I took a longer walk after work, knowing that I hadn’t (yet) met my exercise goals. 33 minutes.

Total: 70 minutes walking, 30 minutes strength training, 60 minutes tennis, for a total of 160 minutes. I met my goal!

Monthly Round Up

  • Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Met in 3 out of the 4 weeks.
  • PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Definitely not.
  • Clutter goals: Not even on my radar.
  • Local Adventures. Finally! Something to report: Our anniversary dinner in a new-to-us restaurant. A visit to Mr. PiN’s hidden childhood sports field (belongs to the high school. Visiting the hospital chapel.
  • Social activity (one in-person activity per month). I thought I had done more, but I see nothing recorded. Maybe I just had an island of social quiet between two busier months?

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
