Fitness Log #324, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

I put together a short talk on hyponatremia (low serum sodium; one of my least favorite topics to teach).

Fabulousness

I’m finally starting to feel better from my recent URI!

Also, I started a hybrid vacation: part staycation, and then a trip to the beach.

As a bonus, my retired friend came over for tea and a chat the day before I left town.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I was feeling better, but spent the day enjoying being indoors, with central heating.
  • Sunday:  I was feeling much, much better. I channeled my energy into some housework (not enough to feel like it’s exercise) rather than formal exercise.
  • Monday: Finally, a workout with my trainer. 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: I wasn’t really planning on working out anyway, but being stuck in traffic during rush hour during *weather* meant I most certainly wasn’t going to work out tonight. Anyway, I’m clearing the decks because I start vacation tomorrow(!!)
  • Wednesday: Tennis was canceled because all the indoor courts with the city were already reserved. I was planning to do a workout video today, but instead put it off, and put it off, because I had to write some thank you notes. My nemesis. After worrying about them for hours (maybe days), in the end I finished them in about 15 minutes. But then it was too late to work out and instead I watched tennis. (If I’m watching sports, does that count?)
  • Thursday: Thankfully, I arranged for an extra workout with my trainer this week. 30 minutes.
  • Friday: I did lots of stairs, managing laundry, packing, and entertaining my friend, but no formal exercise.

Total: 60 minutes of training and no walking or tennis. I totally did not meet my goals, but did a bit more than in prior weeks.

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
