Fitness Log #328, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

  1. My college roommate and I had our first scheduled Zoom meeting to catch up. Somehow, we never got that started before, despite my frequent use of video chats since 2020 to keep up with friends. As usual, we chatted for over an hour.
  2. My sister-in-law came to visit again, and we went to a new-to-me restaurant at the end of the week. I had been in the prior 2 restaurants in the same location over the past 24 years; the current one is much, much tastier.

Fabulousness

I had a meeting with my boss, who agreed to all the changes I wanted to make to my position. Exciting, but also a little stressful (what if my changes don’t work out well?)

Was life not a bowl of cherries this week?

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  My second week of Saturday morning training. 30 minutes.
  • Sunday:  A walk in the neighborhood, 20 minutes.
  • Monday: A walk part way home. I was excited that it is staying light out later in the day. 17 minutes.
  • Tuesday: A walk part way home. Tonight it was colder and darker, Mr. PiN picked me up a little closer to work. 15 minutes.
  • Wednesday: I got a lift to the local business area to run errands, and walked home. 29 minutes. Later, I practiced tennis with Mr. PiN for a bit, before meeting my teacher for a shortened lesson (there are issues with court availability). 55 minutes of tennis.
  • Thursday: A walk part way home from work, 17 minutes.
  • Friday: No exercise after work today, with a guest in the house. Unless you count going up and down the sidewalks on 2 blocks full of restaurants, trying to pick one for dinner.

Total: 108 minutes of walking, 30 of strength training, and 55 minutes of tennis, for a total of 193 minutes of exercise. Finally, I have hit my goal!

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.

  1. Yeah to meeting your fitness goals. The most fabulous thing this week for me was some milder temperatures that started to melt the huge piles of snow we have everywhere. We still have a lot more snow to go, though, but it was a positive sign that spring will come!

    1. The warm weather makes the walking more appealing. Actually–it makes everything else associated with leaving the house more appealing.

I’m hoping Spring comes “on time” this year.
