I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- My parents live 1 mile from a park I never, ever went to as a child (no safe walking route to get there). This week, I dragged Mr. PiN and explored. It was a little fun, though a little anxiety-producing (tromping through wooded areas while knowing my home town now has a bear problem).
Fitness Log
For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: A travel day, no formal exercise.
- Sunday: Walked 2 miles plus shopping, followed by some tennis. I absolutely did not time myself; I will call this 45 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of tennis .
- Monday: I dragged Mr. PiN to the nearby park (the one new to me) and we tromped along faint paths before dinner. About 20 minutes.
- Tuesday: A long day of driving. No exercise, beyond staying on the road.
- Wednesday: A last minute session with my trainer; that was fun. 30 minutes.
- Thursday: No exercise today; instead, a long day of work.
- Friday: A walk after work. Before leaving, I added up my exercise for the week, and realized I had to put in a good 35 minutes. I managed to walk exactly that long (not counting when I was trapped into conversation with my neighbor).
Total: 100 minutes walking, 20 minutes of tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 150 minutes. Just squeaking past my time goal. Isn’t vacation grand?
