Fitness Log #302, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I attended a social event for a small group from work, and enjoyed it.

Fabulousness

See above, an enjoyable social event with people I work with every week. Held at an outdoor venue on a beautiful summer day.

Painting of a feast, Classical in style, held in the shadow of old trees. Two parrots sit on branches in the upper left.
Definitely not the work-related event.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  My friend stopped by again for a morning walk. I again did not time our walk, but will call it 10 minutes.
  • Sunday:  I needed to get a birthday card or two, and did not have the car. I walked to and from the store for the first time in months, 54 minutes (counting time spent texting family, but not shopping time).
  • Monday: I missed out on walking home, but did work out with my trainer. 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: A walk part-way home, 20 minutes.
  • Wednesday: My tennis lesson was super: an hour outside in cooler but still summery weather, with music from the 70s and cicadas buzzing. Life is good.
  • Thursday: I slept poorly overnight, and didn’t have the oomph to walk after work. Possibly knowing I’d already hit my exercise goal for the week encouraged me to ask for a pick up at the hospital.
  • Friday: There was no time for me to exercise today, as I had to travel after work.

Total: 84 minutes walking, 30 minutes strength training, and 60 minutes tennis, for a total of 174 minutes of exercise. This exceeded my weekly goal by a decent amount, and I felt a lot better than prior weeks.

CME Goals

Still nothing. I really do need to buckle down soon. Very soon.

    1. Thanks!
Re: your goals. I’ve been finding that sometimes real life gets in the way of my plans, often times for the better.
