I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
During this pandemic, though, things change so rapidly, I want to acknowledge some of the ways we are coping with it. I am keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Friday Firsts
Just one this week:
- I used Apple Pay for the first time. I had resisted it for a while–it has certainly saved me money when I forgot cash/cards when I went out for a walk–but in this day and age, contactless payment is more appealing.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.
How did I do?
- Saturday: Mr. PiN keeps wanting to go for long walks, which I am not sure about (he is still recovering from a major surgery). We compromised, and went for a long walk together to the bakery. There and back was 73 minutes.
- Sunday: I was pretty sore after yesterday’s walk, but Mr. PiN encouraged me to go for a walk with him. We again went to the bakery, then to drop off goodies at a friend’s house, before returning home. The walk was 85 minutes long, and I was beat for the rest of the day.
- Monday: I took a morning walk after coffee but before breakfast. It was 36 minutes, and based on how I felt, about 10 minutes too long.
- Tuesday: A short morning walk is just what this doctor ordered. 22 minutes and I didn’t feel sore afterwards. Zoom yoga in the afternoon, 80 minutes.
- Wednesday: I was only moderately sore after yesterday’s class, but still took only a shorter walk. 22 minutes.
- Thursday: This was a rest day, except for the mulching I did, which was not restful at all.
- Friday: I had a morning appointment with my trainer, who put me through a a more challenging workout (30 minutes). Then I went for a walk before the sun got too high; I kept it short at 21 minutes.
Total: 259 minutes walking , 30 minutes strength training, and 80 minutes yoga, which I will count as weight training. I think I did very well, even (especially) with my rest day. I will see if I can replicate this next week, without the tremendous soreness I had to deal with from the weekend.
