Fitness Log #381, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

Mr. PiN and I were on our vacation in Arizona, and I had a number of firsts:

  1. Staying in Phoenix.
  2. Seeing Waymo taxis running around without any drivers.
  3. I saw my first real tumbleweed blowing across the highway on the way to Sedona.

Fabulousness

  1. It was fabulous to get away for a week.
  2. We enjoyed a number of fabulous sights while in the Phoenix area and Sedona, including a mercantile market (a farmers market without produce), the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Desert Botanical Garden, a trip on the interstate through the desert with saguaro cactus all over the hills for many miles, a super Mexican restaurant, and visiting Mr. PiN’s uncle and his sweetheart.
  3. The Olympics were being broadcast, and it was fun to watch them on TV in the evening.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

One of the red rock formations in Sedona
  • Saturday:  A travel day, I’m sure there was lots of walking.
  • Sunday:  We walked around the cute neighborhood we were staying in, and then found a tennis court. We played tennis for at least an hour, and walked for an unclear amount of time.
  • Monday: I took a walk around the block before we packed up and hit the road for Sedona. Once we were there, I had a lot of sitting around with my hostess.
  • Tuesday: It was very cold and rainy and I got very little exercise. Mostly we took a car tour of the valley. We did see Tuzigoot National Monument, and walked a bit to see the ruins.
  • Wednesday: Another driving day, and Mr. PiN and I weren’t feeling that great.
  • Thursday: We are definitely sick, and need to be outside. We saw the Desert Botanical Gardens, and later hit a ball on some (different) public courts. We were out there for a while, but not moving that much.
  • Friday: Today we gave up and lounged (fully dressed) by the pool. It was too cold for bathing suit weather, but this way we were outside, warm, and less at risk for skin cancer.

Total: We certainly did not get as much exercise as I had hoped. I suspect we did get 150 minutes of walking and tennis, but don’t have hard data. I will call it a win, though.

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
