I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- For the first time, I did not feel overwhelmed with papers and mess after finishing a rotation in the hospital. I think all the decluttering in June has really paid off.
- Participated in a telemedicine visit as a patient.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my goal is to make sure that I at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise. I am working towards incorporating strength training into my week, with a goal of 60 minutes.
How did I do?
- Saturday: My first day off in what seemed like ages. I took a short walk around the neighborhood in the afternoon, 29 minutes.
- Sunday: I was less confident about my stamina for a long walk. I finagled a ride to the bakery, and then took a circuitous route home. 40 minutes.
- Monday: Sunday night’s sleep was totally disrupted by a call from the in-laws (eventually, we figured out that everything was fine). There was no exercise today, as I was too exhausted.
- Tuesday: Worked from home today, and managed a walk during my lunch break (21 minutes) and Zoom yoga (80, very painful, minutes).
- Wednesday: I had planned for a longer walk, but between being sore from yoga, and seeing threatening clouds, I took just a short walk, 21 minutes.
- Thursday: Training sessions have resumed. 30 minutes.
- Friday: A pretty stressful day, I zoomed out for a walk after work, and went further than I planned. 55 minutes.
Total: 166 minutes walking, 30 weight training and 80 minutes yoga. Not bad, though I do feel stiff and sore. I wish I didn’t have to take a hiatus periodically because of work duties.
