I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I decided I needed to improve my home office, so I cleared out the closet in the room. What a disaster of a mess I made! That is not my Friday First. The Friday First is that this is the first time that closet has been empty since we moved in. In fact, it might be emptier, since the prior owner left a few things for me to clear out.
- I tried some butternut squash crinkle cut fries (baked in the oven). Very tasty.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my prior goal was to make sure that I get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise with 60 minutes of strength training. I recently decided to relax my goal when I work in the hospital to 90 minutes a week, and to push the goal in non-hospital weeks to 210 minutes.
How did I do?
- Saturday: An afternoon walk, 34 minutes.
- Sunday: A noon-time walk, 38 minutes.
- Monday: No exercise today, a planned day off.
- Tuesday: A return to the Zoom yoga class. It was nice to restart here, but my hip issue was certainly aggravated by some of the moves. I won’t count some of the time I cut my poses short. 80 minutes.
- Wednesday: I realized I hadn’t left the house for nearly 72 hours (!!), and took a 42 minute walk after work. This afternoon was a quintessential autumn day, and the walk was lovely.
- Thursday: Video training session after work today. Boy, am I sore after 1 week off! 30 minutes.
- Friday: Strained my wrist somehow while doing chores. I hope it gets better in time for yoga. Walked part-way home from work, 25 minutes.
Total: 139 minutes walking, 30 minutes weight training and 80 yoga this week. For a total of 249 minutes of exercise. A good week overall, though my injuries seem to be adding up.
