I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- Today I had 4 different online meetings (not patient appointments). Some for work, some social; nevertheless, it was too much. I am starting to feel bad for people who have to do this all day long.
- For the first time, I had a spare pair of sneakers (I bought 2 the last time I went shopping), so I could pull them out of the box and put them to work once I realized my last pair was too worn. Especially now, I am so glad not to have to go shopping for running (walking) shoes.
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise during a regular week. If I am working in the hospital, I will relax my goal to 90 minutes for the week. At least 60 minutes of my exercise in a normal week should help with strength training; right now, I count yoga as part of this category.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I knocked myself out with Mr. PiN planting some seedlings. After an afternoon rest, I took an evening walk for 33 minutes.
- Sunday: I got a ride to the local bakery and walked home. I forgot my Fitbit. Using the stopwatch on my phone, we will call it a 34 minute walk.
- Monday: I ran errands after work, and walked home from the last of them. The Fitbit is totally dead, and I forgot to stop the stopwatch on my phone when I paused a few times. I will estimate 32 minutes walked.
- Tuesday: Zoom yoga class after work, 80 minutes.
- Wednesday: A 21 minute walk at lunch time.
- Thursday: A 30 minute session with my trainer after work.
- Friday: I took a long walk after work today, 41 minutes.
Total: 161 minutes walking, 30 minutes weight training and 80 yoga this week, for total of 271 minutes of exercise. I would say this was a good week!
