I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over a year, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- At the end of my hospital rotation, I had more of my work half-done than ever before. This was a little bad (I had to work a bit on my day off), and a little good (my student evaluations are more than half-written, and I can finish them off pretty quickly on the following Monday).
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal while working in the hospital is to get at least 90 minutes of exercise. This is much less than my goals for non-hospital weeks, but recognizes that my hours are longer.
How did I do?
Very poorly. After the prior week (when I got no exercise), I did take a walk on Sunday for 35 minutes. That was nice. My Fitbit claims I walked for 9 minutes on Friday afternoon; I am not sure what it picked up, because I don’t think I went anywhere in particular in the hospital complex. Otherwise, I kept working super long hours and couldn’t manage to exercise all week long.
I finished the week exhausted, and not really in a mood to exercise. Next week my goal is to hit 210 minutes, which I suspect may be a tough target for me. We will see.
