I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I left town for the first time since the pandemic.
- I went shopping, in multiple stores, for the first time since the pandemic started. It was very odd trying to figure out the mask etiquette. (Required for all? OK to drop if you are vaccinated? What to do when everyone else is wearing a mask even though the vaccinated theoretically don’t need to wear one?)
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: A totally lazy day. Plus my leg/hip was sore. No exercise.
- Sunday: I pulled weeds for a while in the morning, and then a walk in the evening. 22 minutes.
- Monday: I did work with my trainer after work, very carefully (a modified regimen). 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: After working inside all day, I was thrilled to find the afternoon had excellent walking weather for me. I skipped yoga as my hip and leg are still not great, but took a little longer of a walk: 30 minutes. I also put some items in the nearest Little Free Library. Altogether a better day.
- Wednesday: An afternoon walk, ending with a chat with the neighbor. I forgot to turn off my stopwatch, so I will just call it 20 minutes. The items I put in the LFL yesterday are gone (yay!).
- Thursday: Travel day! Not much walking or exercise today, unless you count running up and down the stairs for things I forgot.
- Friday: I was mostly home with my parents, except for running some errands for them. Some was by foot, but I didn’t time anything, and my Fitbit still won’t talk to the app.
Total: 72 minutes walking, 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 102 minutes of exercise. Still not at goal, but I am still not recovered from whatever I did several weeks ago. I just need to keep on moving.
