I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for nearly 3 years; over time, I have been doing more, but somehow my goals keeping getting more ambitious too.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s first:
- For the first time in a very long time, I have been full of anticipation about a book. It will be published next week, and I can’t wait (though I am worried that it won’t be as good as anticipated).
- Also, for the first time in a very long time, I was able to get up with my alarm without feeling horrible. That doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t mind sleeping later, mind you…
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: Walked home after running some errands. 28 minutes
- Sunday: Played tennis with Mr. PiN, but stopped early when my sister in law called. I took a late afternoon walk to top off my exercise. 20 minutes tennis and a 42 minute walk.
- Monday: Worked with my trainer after work, 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: Walked part-way home from work (mainly to help my ride avoid traffic). 21 minutes.
- Wednesday: Tennis with Mr. PiN, 40 minutes.
- Thursday: Came home at a reasonable hour, but passed on exercise today. I will need a little push tomorrow to hit my goal for the week.
- Friday: It was a long week, with a long day at the computer today. I was so relieved to take a walk after work, 31 minutes.
Total: 122 minutes walking, 60 minutes of tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 212 minutes. You can be sure that on my Friday walk I made sure to get enough to make my total. This is about my 4th month of not practicing yoga, and I had considered changing my goals; however, my neck and upper back are announcing their displeasure with that plan, so I am going to have to figure out how to bring some of that activity back into my week.
