I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- My friend and I went back to the park that we never go to. We went on some new-to-us trails, and quickly were alone in nature. We got quite lost, and finally came out at a different part of the park. We decided to walk back to our car by road, rather than risk going back in again. What fun!
Fitness Log
As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I was tired and wanted to have a lazy day; however, my friend and I had already made tentative plans to go for our walk, which we did. Not counting time spent chatting at a park table, we walked for 1 hour and 13 minutes (that’s 73 minutes for those keeping track). Exercise buddy for the win.
- Sunday: Lots of craziness, no time to exercise until evening, when I just called it quits. I have to walk into work several times this week, I am sure I will get my exercise in.
- Monday: Walked into work, 40 minutes. No training session this week.
- Tuesday: Walked into work, a slightly different route. 42 minutes.
- Wednesday: After a long, frustrating day, a walk outside was most welcome. 30 minutes.
- Thursday: Walked into work, 40 minutes.
- Friday: Very busy with family and work. No exercise today.
Total: 225 minutes walking, and nothing else. I know I should be working on strength training, but I will say, getting all that walking in was good for the soul, as well as the body. Except for the part where I show up to work sweaty, I really like walking into work.
