I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I played bridge with my dad online. It was the first time in a very long time that I had played at all (I was very rusty), but the online aspect was definitely a first. We might do this more often, since I live so far from home.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 30 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
I was on vacation for part of this week, which usually means lots of walking in new locations. However, this vacation was a stay-cation.
How did I do?
- Saturday: A walk before dinner. 32 minutes.
- Sunday: A walk with Mr. PiN before dinner, 30 minutes.
- Monday: Went to the library and picked up a book on bridge, 23 minutes. My trainer had to postpone until Wednesday, so no strength training today.
- Tuesday: Walked part-way home, 24 minutes.
- Wednesday: Finally, a session with my trainer. 30 minutes.
- Thursday: I took care of medical business today (including my shingles vaccine), and didn’t really feel super after. I took a rest day today. I will make up my time tomorrow, I am sure of it…
- Friday: Still not feeling super, but after a morning spent dealing with paperwork, I got a lift to the library and walked back in the summer heat (a little more slowly). 25 minutes.
Total: 134 minutes walking, no tennis, no yoga, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 164 minutes. A pretty sad exercise tally for vacation; though in my defense, I worked a bit this week and then got a vaccine that tends to lay people out.
Online bridge sounds like a great way to connect long distance. Can you add (or is there already) a video component to it? I played online poker with some buddies while on a Zoom call together and it was a surprisingly great time.
Wow, I didn’t think people actually read these posts!
I don’t think there is a video component (we are using Bridge Base Online), but what we did was log on and play; at the same time, my dad’s friend had us on a conference (phone) call, so we could talk while playing.
Thank you for stopping by.
