I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
I failed to note any firsts this week.
Friday Fabulousness
I was pleasantly surprised to run into my college friend (who does live in the general area) on an evening walk. We had a lovely time walking together. The irony is that we haven’t seen each other for a long time, but are already scheduled to have dinner together next week. Go figure.

Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I woke up early and enjoyed a walk in pleasantly cool weather, a nice change. 30 minutes.
- Sunday: No formal exercise, but I ran some errands and parked further away (free parking). By my timer, I ended up walking 20 minutes this afternoon. Does this mean I should shop for my health?
- Monday: I was feeling definitely unwell today. No exercise.
- Tuesday: Feeling better, I walked to my pick up point. 20 minutes.
- Wednesday: I walked home from the optometrist, not very quickly, 38 minutes. Then I had my tennis lesson a little later, playing very poorly (but getting a lot of exercise, as my sore legs attested to): 1 hour.
- Thursday: No exercise today.
- Friday: After a long day spent at the computer, I escaped for a walk. I ran into my friend and didn’t time us officially; but, based on prior times on that route, I will call it a 30 minute walk.
Total: 138 minutes of walking, and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 198 minutes of exercise.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): For my 4 non-hospital weeks, I met my goal 3 or 4 weeks. (The week I missed, I gave up a 35 minute walk because of bad weather. I could have hit my target if not for that.)
- PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Nothing, nada I keep this on here as a reminder and aspirational goal.
- Clutter goals: I found new homes for a number of books in the local Little Free Libraries. Each trip I only off-loaded a few titles, but after a month I had cleared a pretty good number.
- Local Adventures. I enjoyed cheering on the runners in the local road race.
- MSKAP (2 study sessions per month with my friend, or read through one topic on my own): Nothing to see here.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month). The week I missed my bakery walk, I instead spent the afternoon gabbing with my friend.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
