I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
I forgot to write some down.
Friday Fabulousness
My sister in law came to visit for a few days.
Fitness Log
How did I do?
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
- Saturday: I was still pretty sick with my URI, and stayed inside to rest (despite the beautiful weather inviting me out to the tennis courts).
- Sunday: Another indoors day.
- Monday: My trainer returned from vacation, we had one last workout before I start working in the hospital. 30 minutes.
- Tuesday: No exercise for me.
- Wednesday: Finally, a tennis lesson happened! I was rusty, but hit somewhat better. This will be my last Wednesday lesson for a month, but it’s possible we might meet over the holidays when I have a day off. We’ll see. 60 minutes.
- Thursday: I walked to the usual pick up point, for the first time in a week. I felt much better than last week too. 20 minutes.
- Friday: A long day of work, and then I was entertaining my sister in law. No exercise.
Total: 20 minutes of walking, 60 minutes tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 110 minutes of exercise. I’m feeling better, but obviously did not hit my goal this week.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): A total fail. I did not meet my exercise goals in any of these 4 weeks. First it was foot problems, then I got sick. I seem to be on the mend, so hopefully I will do better going forward.
- PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): I keep this on here as a reminder and aspirational goal, but haven’t done any of my exercises. I think it might be time to let this go.
- Clutter goals: I prepared a box to bring to Goodwill, but didn’t actually get it out of the house yet. Soon.
- Local Adventures. For 2 weekends in a row, I visited a museum with a friend (same friend, different museums).
- MSKAP (2 study sessions per month with my friend, or read through one topic on my own): I started one MKSAP topic (haven’t finished yet) and, addressing a different educational goal, completed 1 hour-long video lecture.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month). My colleague was supposed to come over again to discuss work, but I got sick and had to cancel. There were the museum visits. Also Mr. PiN’s sister coming to visit and a trip to my home for Thanksgiving.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
The highlight of my week was when my daughter arrived home from British Columbia for Christmas on Wednesday night. It’s so good to see her!
One of the best presents! Have a wonderful holiday!
Most definitely! I’d be happy with an empty stocking on Christmas morning as long as she’s home.
