I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I flew out of town on a Friday night, after work, to return to my hometown. The plan was delayed 4 and 1/2 hours. Ugh.
- We landed so late, we got to see the TSA officers coming out of a morning meeting to get the security lines ready for the morning flights.
Fabulousness
- My siblings and I threw a birthday party for our Mom, as her birthday is easily divisible by 10. It was lovely to see so many of her friends, who we knew growing up. It was also lovely to have it at a restaurant, with minimal organization required by us.
- Also, splitting that birthday bill 3-ways was a real bonus of having siblings.
- An extra bonus, my brother’s children are finally old enough to sit at the table with us at home without too much drama.
- I had a very nice time visiting with my sister while we were in our childhood home.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: My short 1-hour flight came in 2 hours before my usual wake up time. I slept all morning and did not exercise today. I did, however, declutter the desk in my childhood bedroom, and a childhood treasure will go to a little girl in the neighborhood.
- Sunday: No exercise today. Unless you count shopping for party decor with my sister.
- Monday: My sister and I took a walk today to a park which is a mile from the house. I am pretty sure we walked slowly, so I will pretend we were walking a little faster and call it 40 minutes of walking (there and back).
- Tuesday: Walked to our local polling station after returning home. I will guess it was a 10 minute round trip.
- Wednesday: A very good tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
- Thursday: A walk after work, 20 minutes.
- Friday: A walk after work, 20 minutes. I ran into some friends as I neared home, and we had a nice chat.
Total: 90 minutes of walking and 60 minutes of tennis. Finally! Finally I met my exercise goals for 2 weeks in a row!
CME Goals.
- CME Videos: 1 and 1/2 (I was too tired and hungry to make sense of the second one, I may have to rewind it when I resume).
