I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I booked a hotel room for the night before my second board exam, as the testing center was inconvenient to my home. That was not the first. The first was deciding to spring the extra $28 to get a nice, big, comfy room, rather than the regular. It was pretty spiff.
- I tried out the AirPods my siblings gave me for my birthday. I’m not yet sold, but I’ll keep trying.
Fabulousness
I finally upgraded my phone after 8 years. It’s so nice not to have to charge my phone every few hours.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: No exercise today.
- Sunday: A 20 minute walk.
- Monday: A 20 minute walk after a long day of studying.
- Tuesday: Big exam today, I didn’t get around to exercising.
- Wednesday: I went to play tennis today, and did not feel well. I had to stop playing early, and spent most of the day with my feet up. I will call it 35 minutes of exercise. (I suspect I will not be able to hit my 150 minute target this week.)
- Thursday: A walk in the neighborhood, 20 minutes.
- Friday: Another walk after work, 20 minutes.
Total: 80 minutes of walking, 35 minutes of tennis, for a total of 115 minutes. Not quite at my goal, but I would have been much closer (and maybe made a better effort) had I not had to stop my tennis lesson early.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): met 3/4 weeks.
- PT goals (do at least 3 days a week): Ha-ha.
- Clutter goals: Nothing to see here, move along, move along.
- Local Adventures. a visit to a new museum.
- Social activity (one in-person activity per month). A party, an afternoon visit with a friend, having my mom and sister-in-law come visit, and a funeral. I mostly certainly exceeded my social goals this month, though funerals are not the preferred way of meeting this.
CME
I completed my second big exam of the year.
My results won’t be available for a while, I am not 100% sure that I passed, but I will certainly not be spending so much time studying for the rest of the year.
Whew!
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
I donโt own Airpods but I find Apple earphones, in general, donโt fit my ears. I must have oddly-shaped ears! ๐๐๐
My fabulous news is I published my new retirement coaching website. I will put an official announcement on my blog next week, but Iโm excited about it.
Michelle, that is fabulous news!
Thank you!
