I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 5 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I used my Global Entry card for the first time. I can’t believe how fast it got me through Passport control (though it was freaky to just look at a camera and have an official state my name). Sadly, I had checked baggage to retrieve, so I still had to wait around quite some time.
Fabulousness
I had to struggle to find something fabulous in a week where I returned home from a foreign vacation.
But, I have to admit, I was happy to sleep in my own bed. It is much more luxurious than the bed in our fancy hotel.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: A travel day. I’m sure I did some walking, but have no way to quantify it (it’s times like this that make me regret my Fitbit). However, staying in a cramped airline seat for 9+ hours seems like it negated any exercise I did earlier.
- Sunday: A 20 minute walk in the afternoon.
- Monday: I walked from a different starting point to my pick up spot. Per Google maps, I should have walked 16 minutes. I was too tired from jet lag and overwhelmed by work, and canceled my training session.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point, 16 minutes.
- Wednesday: My tennis teacher had to cancel, and instead of exercising on my own, I ran some errands and visited with my about-to-retire friend.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 16 minutes.
- Friday: A 20 minute walk after work..
Total: 88 minutes of walking. Clearly, I rely on my sports lessons/trainer to keep my exercise up. Or I should just go on vacation more often and never return.
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
