I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
- First outside tennis lesson of 2025.
- I was recognized at the tennis courts as “Mr. PiN’s wife,” which is not how I am usually known.

Fabulousness
- Went to the local historical museum for a house tour with my retired friend.
- We had some beautiful sunny spring days, I was able to open the windows to air out the house.
- I realized that I had requested a lot of time off this spring for various events. I am thrilled to calculate that I can take off all of those days while still meeting my work expectations (no need to pick up extra clinic in a hurry).
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I met my trainer (via video) for our morning workout, 30 minutes.
- Sunday: I was soooo tired today. But the weather was great, so eventually Mr. PiN drove me up to the top of the neighborhood hill, so I could meander home (on the downhill path). 23 minutes.
- Monday: I walked to my pick up point on leaving work, 18 minutes; and then later took a walk around the neighborhood for 24 minutes (total of 42 minutes today).
- Tuesday: A walk partway home, 17 minutes.
- Wednesday: My tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
- Thursday: A walk partway home, 17 minutes.
- Friday: A 20 minute walk in the neighborhood.
Total: 119 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 209 minutes of exercise. I have been reminded that I feel much better when I exercise this much–we’ll see if I can keep up with the increase.
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
The best part about spring is it’s so much easier to get our exercise in. We have had a few nice days, mixed in with more winter weather. I look forward to the days when I can get out for a walk every day!
Absolutely! (Though with those April showers coming soon, I’d better keep thinking about videos, unless I’m willing to get soaked on my walks.)
