I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
This week was a slog, and I didn’t really note anything fabulous. I suppose I had a first of going to the bank to open my deceased friend’s safety deposit box to look for a will; it was definitely not fabulous.

Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I met with my trainer (virtually) for a 30 minute session.
- Sunday: I took a walk around the neighborhood, 20 minutes.
- Monday: The weather turned hot, and there was no outdoor exercise. Also, I had to start work early, and was inefficient for the rest of the day; so no indoor exercise either.
- Tuesday: A normal schedule today, but the weather was still too hot for exercise.
- Wednesday: Despite my trepidation, I did play tennis outdoors for my lesson. There were more water breaks than usual, but my teacher stretched our hour out over a bit more than 60 minutes. I will still count this as 60 minutes of exercise.
- Thursday: The weather was terrible, and there was no walk home. Or any exercise.
- Friday: Today was all about finishing up work before the weekend. No exercise today.
Total: 20 minutes of walking, 60 minutes of tennis and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 110 minutes. I definitely did not hit my exercise goal for the week.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Achieved in 0/4 weeks. Much of it was due to bad weather–either too hot or dangerous storms–so I don’t feel too lazy. Though I suppose this is really a prompt to be more willing to use an exercise video at home.
- Clutter goals (clear journals and home office): I donated some sneakers, gave away some books, and disposed of several piles of papers and/or magazines. That’s not counting Mr. PiN’s efforts.
- Local Adventures (1-2 per month). I am not sure I want to list seeing a new ER here.
- Social activity (two in-person activities per month). I spent some time with my retired friend at the local bakery, and visited with my mom.
- Attend services (1 per month). Nope.
- Explore my Curious List (try something new every quarter?): Nope.
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
