I’m starting Wednesday W’s as a way to give short updates of how I use my (new) extra day off per week. I am curious about what I will do with that extra day, and think blogging about it might prompt me to make sure I take advantage of it.
When did I wake up: Despite setting the alarm for much later, I woke up before 5 am. After a few minutes, I gave up and checked in at work, finishing one undone note and addressing a few patient portal messages.
Who am I spending time with: Nurses at an infusion center (not chemo!), and Mr. PiN. It appears I cut back on work just in time to deal with my own medical issues.
What did I do for work: Obviously, I had a few things on my mind, and did a little in-box work before 6 am. Over the whole day, I checked in at least 4 times, for more than 2 hours of screen time.
What project am I working on, now I have time: After spending the weekend with house chores and dealing with the overstuffed front closet, I can’t quite bear any more house work today. However, I did help Mr. PiN deal with some paperwork related to his dad’s estate.
What did I do to “fill my bucket:” I finally sacked out on the sofa in the afternoon and read the most recent month of Real Simple. I had to go more than half-way through before I actually felt relaxed.
What was good and not so good about today:
Not so good: stress about getting an IV (the irony of the doctor worried..), feeling worn out by early afternoon, likely from getting up early. The feeling of needing to do more, even though I did plenty of chores in the past 2 days.
Good: snacks with my IV (I am very food-motivated), practicing relaxing on the sofa in the middle of the day.
Which meme has made me laugh recently:
