I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for nearly 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
I finally met the realtor Mr. PiN chose to work with to sell his parents’ house. She seems very solid. I am super excited to think about lifting this project off Mr. PiN’s shoulders.
Fabulousness
My vacation continued into this week, and Mr. PiN and I had a fabulous time. We enjoyed sight seeing, and even watched a little tennis in our luxurious hotel room when we needed a rest from our tourism activities.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do this week?

- Saturday: I was still on vacation, and not counting exercise. I will say that Mr. PiN and I were feeling a little restless, like we needed to stretch our legs. We decided to walk to a tourist attraction which, according to Google maps, was 2.7 km away (1.66 miles). I don’t walk very fast, and I didn’t time myself; but I think it is reasonable to assume that it took me at least 1 hour to make the round trip.
- Sunday: This was our last day on vacation, with an evening flight. We strolled about Victoria after checking out of our hotel, though we also enjoyed riding the local water taxi. I have no idea how much walking we did, though I will also say that connecting through Seattle Airport, we were amazed at how far we had to walk from one gate to the other.
- Monday: Super tired after an overnight flight. No exercise today, beyond what I walked in the airport.
- Tuesday: Back to work, after which I walked to my usual pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Wednesday: Mr. PiN and I met with a realtor about his parents’ house. I walked home while he did some shopping, 21 minutes. No tennis lesson as I picked up a virus while away, and wasn’t quite up to running around.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Friday: After a long day of seeing patients (and finishing notes), I strategically went for a longer walk, to make my goal for sure. 36 minutes walking.
Total: 91 (measured) minutes of walking, plus another (estimated) 60 minutes walking, to make a total of 151 minutes. I will say I made my goal.
Monthly Round Up
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Achieved in 4/4 weeks (though my vacation time exercise wasn’t really counted precisely, I think my estimates were fair. And underestimates.).
- Clutter goals (clear journals and home office): Mr. PiN and I cleared out our front closets. We were able to give away or donate quite a bit, though our trash cans also received some items. I also “tidied” several magazines by reading them on plane trips and then disposing of them.
- Local Adventures (1-2 per month). Tried out a new ice cream parlor.
- Social activity (two in-person activities per month). Attended a memorial dinner for my friend. Spent time with my retired friend, both for tea at my house and to check out that ice cream place. Lastly, visited with Mr. PiN’s family in British Columbia.
- Attend services (1 per month). Not this month.
- Explore my Curious List (try something new every quarter?): Nope.
I really do feel like I did pretty well this month. I hope you have had a good week/month as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
