I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
Not a first, more of a last. Having reached a certain age, I am now exempt from taking overnight call for the practice. This week, I took call for the very last time. (This could also go under the fabulousness section!)
Fabulousness
The weather has cooled down and is now glorious–cool and refreshing in the morning, warmer in the afternoon so you know summer isn’t over. Playing tennis in the morning with Mr. PiN was a great excuse to spend more time outside.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: I finally met again with my trainer, 30 minutes.
- Sunday: I didn’t feel like doing much, but eventually got a ride past the worst hills of the neighborhood and took a downhill walk. 23 minutes.
- Monday: Morning tennis with Mr. PiN, rounded down to 35 minutes (there were delays to retrieve balls). Later, I walked to my pick up point after my appointment, 15 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Wednesday: A tennis lesson outside, with fabulous weather. 60 minutes.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Friday: An after work/before dinner walk to improve my mood after sitting all day. 20 minutes.
Total: 92 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 95 minutes of tennis, for a total of 217 minutes of exercise. I definitely met my goals, and felt great exercising.
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
