Fitness Log #358 And Friday Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for nearly 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

I didn’t notice any. Oops.

Fabulousness

I spent a lazy day reading library books.

I also visited my friend at her home. We sat on her porch and chatted, but also saw some hawks circling the neighborhood and hummingbirds at her feeder. Later in the week, we went to a local museum/park and enjoyed a nice chat.

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

Is her back stiff too?
  • Saturday:  My trainer was entertaining family, and wasn’t available. The day became a very lazy day, and no exercise was completed by me.
  • Sunday:  Mr. PiN dropped me off at the shops, and I walked home after picking up a few things. My back wasn’t feeling great, and my walk took 28 minutes (usually I can do it in about 25). Later, I visited with my friend–we went for a walk very slowly, as she needs a joint replacement. Her phone said we walked a mile, so I will add an extra 20 minutes to the total–even though we most certainly took longer on our walk.
  • Monday: I walked to my pick up point, 15 minutes. I was feeling better today, and took another walk once I was home, 20 minutes.
  • Tuesday: It was a long day. Walking to my pick up point was enough, 17 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A little exercise today, and I was pretty sure I’d make my goal. However, work kept me busy; and when I went to visit with my friend, we ended sitting and chatting instead of walking. With one thing and another, there was no exercise today.
  • Thursday: Mr. PiN didn’t answer the phone, so I had no pick up today. Given I hadn’t exercised yesterday, and I was feeling better, I walked all the way home (36 minutes, pauses to catch my breath not counted).
  • Friday: After a day hunched over the computer, I took a longer walk in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, my stopwatch on my phone stopped at some point in my walk; I will estimate a walk of 25 minutes.

Total: 161 minutes of walking, I made my goal, despite my stiff back!

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.

  1. Injuries and illness make it so tough to meet a fitness goal. I have been fortunate that my stiff back still let me walk (actually, it feels better). I hope your leg is better soon!

  2. I’m sorry to hear about your back! My husband plays tennis but is taking a pickleball class and says it’s a lot less injury prone and easier to play injured (because he did injure his arm at one point). So that may be worth trying too? But good on you to keep up the activity regardless. It is hard when you are nursing an injury.

    1. Thank you for dropping by, C!

My husband is a huge pickleball enthusiast, but I think I’m not quite ready to go that route. I am grateful that my back is just stiff, instead of super-painful. Feeling better with walking is a huge incentive for me to keep that activity going.
