Fitness Log #366, Friday Firsts And Fabulousness

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

After living in my neighborhood for 20 years, for the first time I ate inside the most popular pizza place (I may have had delivery a few times, but never ate in).

Fabulousness

The occasion of eating at the pizzeria was an invitation from one of Mr. PiN’s pickleball friends. Overall, there were 5 of us at the table; I was the only one still working. It was very nice to meet new people, and a little exciting to go out when I had clinic the next day.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

Three men sitting playing cards, while a fourth looks on.
I did not actually see these characters at the pizzeria, but I wouldn’t be surprised to run into them there.
  • Saturday:  30 minute workout with my trainer. The day looked sunny, and I know this won’t last for much longer this year. So I accepted a ride to the bakery, and walked home in some lovely weather. 30 minutes walking.
  • Sunday:  My back was very stiff after yesterday, I rested and did not try to exercise.
  • Monday: I was still stiff today too.
  • Tuesday: A little stiff today, but I did walk to my pick up point before going to vote (I could, in theory, have walked to my polling place but I was glad of the ride). 17 minutes walking.
  • Wednesday: Despite some continued back stiffness, I went to my tennis lesson. I am not sure if sharing the lesson gives me a break or makes me work harder (I suspect the latter). 60 minutes.
  • Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
  • Friday: It was a long day of work, and night fell early with the time change. My plans to exercise were shelved.

Total: 64 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis for a total of 154 minutes. I slacked a bit, but still made my goal.

I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
