Fitness Log #367, Friday Firsts, Fabulousness, And Monthly Goals

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 7 years, and plan to continue doing so.

Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.

Friday Firsts

I went for a walk this week and saw the season’s first (scant) snowflakes.

A Japanese print, mostly blue and white, of a snowy hillside overlooking a river with a person walking.
I know Winter is coming, but I didn’t see nearly so many snow flakes on my walk.

Fabulousness

I flew home to visit my mom. I was very happy to see the flight schedule has changed, to leave an hour earlier, thereby landing at a more reasonable hour.

Fitness Log

The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  My back stiffness continues. A more gentle workout with my trainer, 30 minutes.
  • Sunday:  I tried some hip stretches with a 7 minute YouTube video. I am not sure this is actually my issue.
  • Monday: I was dropped off on my way back from my physical, and meandered my way home. 22 minutes. It was my first walk in 4 days, and the fresh air was great.
  • Tuesday: A chilly walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
  • Thursday: Another chilly walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
  • Friday: I did have to rush from work to the airport. I thought I needed a few more minutes of walking, so I skipped some of the people movers to get to my gate. I will call it 4 minutes (the number of minutes I thought I needed to get to my goal).

Total: 60 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, 60 minutes of tennis, and 7 minutes of stretching, for a total of 157 minutes. I met my goal!

Monthly Round Up

  • Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Achieved in 4 of the past 4 weeks.
  • Clutter goals: Gave away 4 mugs and 1 set of sheets through the Buy Nothing Group, and also a bluetooth speaker. Mr. PiN was also inspired to clear out some kitchen cabinets.
  • Local Adventures. Not much this month.
  • Social activity (one in-person activity per month). Mr. PiN and I met some of his pickleball friends for dinner; my 2 friends came over to the house for tea; and I met one of my friends at the local bakery.
  • Attended services: once by video while Mr. PiN was out of town.

I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
