I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 6 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
This week’s first:
Mr. PiN called me from his evening walk to join him to see the planets.
Fabulousness
I finally felt peppy enough (or fit enough) to take a longer walk over the weekend. Fabulous!
Mr. PiN called me from his evening walk to join him to see the planets. He actually escorted me in the dark to the nearby golf course, where we had a great time looking at the line up: Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, maybe Uranus? By comparison, Orion (one of the only 3 constellations I can easily identify) looked very faint. It was super cold, but fabulous.
It warmed up later in the week, and I walked with my retired friend to her local bakery. We spent a pleasant few hours chatting away enjoying caffeinated beverages and a sweet treat.
Friday was absolutely fabulous: I finished all my notes before dark, and the music channel played one of Mr. PiN and my favorite pieces (Village Dance, by Fibich). The most fabulous part of Friday, though, and likely the reason I felt so inclined to call things fabulous, was the sunny weather today.

Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: My workout with my trainer at the new time, 30 minutes.
- Sunday: I elected to take a longer walk around the neighborhood, 30 minutes.
- Monday: A walk part way home, 16 minutes.
- Tuesday: I got an early start leaving work, or else Mr. PiN was a little late leaving to pick me up. I walked to a further pick up point, 20 minutes walking.
- Wednesday: My first full tennis lesson for several weeks. 60 minutes of running around and trying to hit the ball with good form.
- Thursday: A walk to my pick up point, 17 minutes.
- Friday: A walk after work, 20 minutes.
Total: 103 minutes walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 193 minutes. I definitely met my goal for the week!
Monthly Round Up
Reviewing my monthly progress on several goals. This helps me keep track of how I am doing, and can inspire me to get back to work on goals that are getting neglected.
- Exercise goals (150 minutes per week; but only 90 minutes when working on the hospital wards): Achieved in 3 of the 4 weeks.
- Clutter goals (clear journals and home office): I hurriedly cleared our living room when my sister-in-law came to visit, but didn’t actually remove clutter from the home in an organized way. This might be a fail.
- Local Adventures (1-2 per month). Not unless you count eating out at new restaurants, or maybe this week’s stargazing.
- Social activity (two in-person activities per month). My sister-in-law came to visit, so there was that. Also lunch out with her friends, and then my visit to the bakery this week. Three social events.
- Attend services (1 per month). Done once (after looking at this round up, to be honest).
- Explore my Curious List (try something new every quarter?): Nope.
I hope you have had a good week as well. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
