Fitness Log #130 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 2 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I took advantage of people observing the holiday weekend to snag the #1 spot in my Duolingo group. Very exciting times in the PiN household.
  2. With the rise in the stock market, I started to wonder more seriously if retirement might be possible sooner than I thought.
I am pretty sure I will not be hunting on horse back if I do retire early. Though it is good exercise.

Fitness Log

As a reminder, my current goal is to make sure that I get 210 minutes a week of moderate exercise, of which 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  I took an afternoon walk, 23 minutes.
  • Sunday:  My last day of vacation. I took a 35 minute walk with Mr. PiN, then I friend came over and we walked in the park, 41 minutes.
  • Monday:  I actually had a very good first day back at work: nice patients, and an excellent resident working with me. I thought I would take a walk after I finished up my work at home. However, by the time that came around, the skies looked threatening. No exercise today.
  • Tuesday: Not a bad second day back at work, though not perfect. I was pretty stiff for my first yoga class in a month. My left hamstring hates me. 80 minutes of yoga.
  • Wednesday: I took a mid-day walk, with a few pauses to inspect the nearby Little Free Library and to admire some spring flowers. I will call it a 36 minute walk.
  • Thursday: Work ran late and I had to postpone my session with my trainer. I did take a walk when I came home, 20 minutes.
  • Friday: After sitting all day for work, I zipped out for an afternoon walk, estimated at 17 minutes (I stopped to talk to a neighbor). Then 30 minutes of strength training.

Total: 172 minutes walking, 80 minutes of yoga, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 282 minutes. I am pleased to meet and surpass my goal.
