I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for 8 years, and plan to continue doing so.
Since the pandemic started, I have been keeping track of “firsts,” and more lately, I have been trying to note good things (“fabulousness”). It’s a good way to pay attention and not let life slide by.
Friday Firsts
I went with a friend to a concert series of a group I had never before heard, in a location I had never before visited. Definitely a first!
The hospital updated/switched electronic medical records this week. This was a first I hoped never to deal with in my career; however, since I’m not retired, it’s a joy I could not avoid.
Fabulousness
Dealing with the new EMR blocked recognition of any fabulousness from my consciousness. Sad, but true.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?

- Saturday: My trainer was sick and needed to reschedule. Mr. PiN dropped me off for a walk when he went to the store. I was pretty tired and accepted a ride when he passed me on the way back. My walk lasted only 14 minutes.
- Sunday: It was definitely a non-exercise type of day.
- Monday: My trainer was better, and we had a session today, 30 minutes. The weather was lovely (sunny but more crisp), perfect for walking. I took a walk later in the day for 20 minutes.
- Tuesday: A walk to my pick up point after work, 18 minutes.
- Wednesday: A tennis lesson, 60 minutes.
- Thursday: After work, I walked to a different hospital to visit a friend. It was a walk, but not that long and I didn’t time it. Her spouse drove me home. Not quite a no-exercise day, but nothing counted.
- Friday: A 20 minute walk after work.
Total: 72 minutes of walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and 60 minutes of tennis, for a total of 162 minutes of exercise. I made my goal!
I hope you have had a good week. Feel free to share any fabulous news of your own.
