Fitness Log #186 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. I realized I could send a voice message as a text. I feel really old admitting this.

Fitness Log

For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

Kajikazawa in Kai Province (Kōshū Kajikazawa), from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (Fugaku sanjūrokkei) ca. 1830–32. www. metmuseum.org.
  • Saturday:  Went back to the tennis courts this weekend, and found I could play nearly twice as long as last week (my return to the court after ~6 months away). And a lot better. 31 minutes.
  • Sunday:  Afternoon walk, 33 minutes.
  • Monday: Work out with my trainer, 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: Guest today, no exercise after work.
  • Wednesday: I got a lift so I could walk in a slightly different neighborhood. It was nice to get a change of scenery. 40 minutes.
  • Thursday: This was a no-exercise day. Instead, I worked on my notes into the evening.
  • Friday: The weather wasn’t awesome, but I knew I was only 17 minutes away from (finally) meeting my weekly exercise goal. Once I was out and about, I walked a bit longer, logging a 31 minute walk altogether. And capping it with a nice chat with my neighbor.

Total: 104 minutes walking, 31 minutes of tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 165 minutes.
