Fitness Log #187 And Friday Firsts

I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.

I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.

Friday Firsts

This week’s firsts:

  1. For the first time in nearly 40 years, I heard my grandfather’s voice. The year before he died, he agreed to be interviewed for a local oral history project; decades later, I found his interview online. It was quite an experience for me.
  2. Going from awesomely good to amazingly bad, I was informed at work of an “disappointing” decision. I started discussion of FU money and job hopping with Mr. PiN, something I haven’t thought about for a long time, if ever, at this position.

Fitness Log

For the first few months of 2022, the goal is to do my PT exercises 3 times a week, and get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.

How did I do?

  • Saturday:  The weather was terrible. I decided it was a good day to stay indoors and read a book. No exercise.
  • Sunday:  A beautiful day today. Mr. PiN and I hit the tennis courts, 30 minutes of exercise for me. We enjoyed listening to a live band playing in the park while we played.
  • Monday: My training session went well today, 30 minutes.
  • Tuesday: A walk after work, 28 minutes.
  • Wednesday: A walk home from the stores, 27 minutes. Then a trip to the tennis courts, 25 minutes. I am getting a bit better with practice.
  • Thursday: A walk part-way home from work, 12 minutes.
  • Friday: A 20 minute walk after work.

Total: 87 minutes walking, 55 minutes of tennis, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 172 minutes. I am feeling much better about my exercise this week.
