I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- I ended my vacation grumpier than when I started. Not a great first.
Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 20 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: I was hoping for a lot of exercise time while off work, but definitely had some post-Shingrix malaise. Nothing today.
- Sunday: Finally felt more myself. I took a 30 minute walk in the afternoon.
- Monday: I did some weeding too close to noon, then an afternoon walk for 32 minutes.
- Tuesday: A 36 minute walk in the afternoon, after a grumpy morning. Finally, this evening I did my PT exercises again, briefly.
- Wednesday: My last day of vacation for a few months :-(. I took a 28 minute walk in the afternoon, and then later met with my trainer for our 30 minute session.
- Thursday: A return to the office. I did walk (part-way) home after work, 20 minutes.
- Friday: I took a walk after work and didn’t bring a timing device. I think it was probably just 10-15 minutes. I will count it as 10.
Total: 156 minutes walking, 30 minutes of strength training, and PT once (4 minutes) for a total of 190 minutes. Even though I felt lousy, I still managed to meet my exercise goals pretty handily when I didn’t have to go to work. Hmmm.
