I have been keeping track of my exercise every Friday for over 3 years, and plan to continue doing so.
I started the Friday Firsts sections as a way of keeping track of some of my “firsts” as I dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. Things seem to be settling down, but I will keep it for now–more as a way to be aware and thankful of what is happening in my life.
Friday Firsts
This week’s firsts:
- Our best visit yet with my sister-in-law. Not a first, but the first time it went so smoothly. Practice makes perfect?

Fitness Log
The goal is to get 150 minutes of moderate exercise, of which (ideally) 60 minutes should build strength (yoga counts); if I am working in the hospital, my goal is just 90 minutes, which is a more realistic stretch during those busy days.
How did I do?
- Saturday: My foot remained sore today, and I stayed home. I was on it a bit cleaning up for company.
- Sunday: A nice walk home after dropping off items for the Buy Nothing group and returning to the bakery. 31 minutes.
- Monday: A walk back from the local business area (24 minutes), and then a workout with my trainer (30 minutes).
- Tuesday: Loads of forms to fill out before coming home to a family dinner. No exercise today, except eye strain.
- Wednesday: Tennis lesson had to be canceled today because of weather. I ended up catching up on stuff at work and didn’t exercise at all.
- Thursday: Walked part-way home from work, 2o minutes.
- Friday: A walk after work. I had hoped to take a long enough walk to meet my weekly exercise goal, but my foot started giving me pain. 34 minutes.
Total: 109 minutes walking, and 30 minutes of strength training, for a total of 139 minutes.
